I did a LOT of research no 3d model that is modeled after a copyrighted character can have intellectual property rights or an owner. If a modeler sells these they are breaking the law by distributing copyrighted material without permission and without paying royalties.
Some modelers may not like it but they have every right to invent their own charters, and sell those.
